Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, dear Friends, herewith we would like to introduce and invite you to an upcoming project and event: the foundation of "VIPULAMATI: AMPLE INTELLIGENCE Associação para a promoção do uso criativo dos novos media" (Society for the support of the creative use of new media) with its first place in Lisbon/Portugal. Native english or portuguese speakers will understand the term "ample intelligence" or "Inteligência ampla"; in German "ample" means "weiträumig, groß, weit, reichlich, mehr als genug, genügend, ausführlich". So our program is already hidden in its name: not artificial intelligence, not natural intelligence, not intellectual intelligence, not clever intelligence...maybe a part of all, but: ample intelligence. Ample intelligence in times of experts and one-linear, specialized knowledge can be achieved only by intercultural and interdisciplinary works. Moreover its results can be only efficiently delivered by the use and knowledge of the future communication and information tools which are overcoming the former reading and writing skills. The future communication tools are recent, not even completely developed and are called "New Media". They are already very powerful by a high capacity for attractive content design and manipulation. To give and understand informations, reading and writing capabilitities will be not sufficient anymore in the future. Understanding of creating and analyzing multimedia applications or even virtual environments will be the skills people must have in order to be considered as "illiterate" (port.: analfabeto, germ.: analphabet, ungebildet) with all its implications.
